Curatorial Narrative August von Pettenkofen’s “Bauernmdchen auf dem Balkon” occupies a unique position within the trajectory of Impressionist art, characterized by its rustic and country sensibilities. The artist’s employment of impasto brushwork imbues the canvas with a tactile quality, evoking the rough-hewn textures of rural life.
