Gallery Edition – Summer Repose by Auguste-Paul-Charles Anastasi – 78×44 Interior Architectural Study

Curatorial Narrative In the late 19th century, Auguste-Paul-Charles Anastasi’s “Summer Repose” exemplified the Impressionist movement’s fascination with capturing fleeting moments of modern life. Painted in 1876, this work distills the essence of a languid summer afternoon, as a young woman reclines on a verdant hillside, her gaze lost in thought. Anastasi’s impasto brushwork imbues the scene with a tactile quality, evoking the rough-hewn texture of the natural world. The palette, a nuanced balance of greens, browns, reds, and soft pinks, conjures an atmosphere both tranquil and alive. When scaled up to 78×44 inches, “Summer Repose” assumes a commanding presence, its chromatic structure and spatial depth orchestrating a symphony of visual rhythms within the luxury interior. The dominant greens and browns evoke a sense of organic materiality, suggesting pairings with richly grained wood, supple leathers, or velvety textiles. As light
